Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)

The eyes are one of the first areas of the face to show signs of aging. From drooping and uneven eyelids to bags under the eyes, signs of aging around the eyes can make a person appears not only older, but even tired or angry. With the use of the latest techniques, blepharoplasty, commonly known as eyelid tuck surgery, is performed by our surgeon serving patients from Minneapolis, St Paul, and surrounding areas. The procedure can help to rejuvenate the upper eyelids, making a person appear younger and more alert, correct bagginess under the eyes, and provide a more youthful appearance.

If you have considered facial rejuvenation through cosmetic eyelid surgery, our experienced blepharoplasty surgeon has an office in Minneapolis. We can help you determine if this procedure is right for you. To speak with Dr. Christopher J. Kovanda about your eyelid surgery rejuvenation possibilities, contact Kovanda Aesthetic Surgery today.

The Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty) Procedure at our Minneapolis / St Paul Practice

Blepharoplasty involves both the upper eyelid and the lower eyelid procedures. Depending on each person’s unique characteristics and cosmetic desires, one of these procedures, or both, may be performed. Dr. Kovanda provides innovative laser eyelid surgery for his patients. Laser blepharoplasty can be performed for both the upper and lower eyelid. Instead of a surgical incision using a scalpel, a CO2 laser is used to accurately make the incisions while at the same time sealing the blood vessels, nerves and lymphatics to reduce swelling, bruising and pain postoperatively. This helps to reduce patients recovery time and get them back to their life styles as quickly as possible.

Upper Eyelid Surgery

Many of Dr. Kovanda’s patients complain of “tired eyes”, which can affect their overall appearance and social interactions. When one eyelid sags more than the other, a person’s facial features can become asymmetrical. When both sag, a person can look tired or even angry and some may have their visual field reduced affecting their vision if severe. This can occur as we age, or simply from what we inherit as part of our genetics. Regardless of its cause, many people decide to undergo surgery for a more rested, youthful appearance. Our office in Minneapolis serves the entire Minneapolis / St Paul area, Dr. Kovanda and his staff are experienced eyelid surgery providers.

Lower Eyelid Surgery

Instead of addressing the upper eyelids, lower eyelid surgery helps correct for puffiness or bagginess under the eyes. This common occurrence can make a person look older then they are, or tired. This can be caused by stress, lack of sleep, allergies, or family genetics. By removing excess skin under the eyes, patients can enjoy smoother, more youthful facial features. Some blepharoplasty patients can combine eyelid surgery with a brow lift to fully address the rejuvenation around the eye when the brow appears heavy or droopy or contributes to the skin excess around the eyes.
