My HydraFacial Experience
- Posted on: Jul 11 2018
I’ve read a lot about HydraFacials and how great they are, but what do they really do, and what are the results? Now, I’ve had problematic skin throughout my life. I’ve dealt with acne, uneven skin tone, genetically large pores…you name it. As someone who wasn’t blessed with flawless skin, I decided I needed to try this “miracle” treatment.
The first step in the HydraFacial was a cleanse. I didn’t wear any makeup, but I could already feel the effectiveness of this first step. The aesthetician pulled a small tool across my face that opens the pores and really gets into your skin for a deep clean. It felt cool and tingly, which was a nice break from the summer humidity.
The next step was the exfoliating process. Now, I’ve had experiences with other treatments where I was told it wouldn’t hurt, but it did. I’d like to say I have a high pain tolerance, but this is clearly a lie. So when I heard “exfoliating” I was a little worried. However, there was no discomfort. The tool had a rotating head that felt somewhat like a cleansing brush you use at night. This process removed the top layer of dead skin, makeup residue, and all unwanted “debris”. My skin felt nice and smooth!
Next, we went on to extractions. This was basically the vacuuming of my pores, and I loved it. This treatment does what all of those pore strips and masks claim to do. It unclogs your pores and gets rid of blackheads. Wait, there’s something that actually does that? Yes! This step cleans it all out. Bye-bye stubborn blackheads!
The peel was the next step in my HydraFacial. I’ve had peels in the past that felt like mouthwash for your skin, where you feel like your face is on fire. This was not that. There was a slight, cool, tingly sensation, but it wasn’t uncomfortable at all. It was actually kind of refreshing.
Lastly, we did a Dermabuilder Boost. This is one of the “award-winning super serums” that can be tailored for your skin-type. The Dermabuilder Boost is fantastic because it addresses fine lines, skin tone, and texture. Yes, please! The collagen-rich serum is fused into the skin, leaving it bright, soft, and supple. Again…yes, please!
Immediately after the treatment my skin felt clean and fresh. I was slightly pink for about 20 minutes, but I have sensitive skin. I could see a noticeable reduction in blackheads and pore size. My skin was not instantly supermodel quality, but there was a definite improvement. For the next 24 hours I was advised not to sweat or do any sunbathing. This meant I had to relax and take it easy all afternoon. Bonus!
Overall, I was very satisfied with my HydraFacial. It is a fantastic treatment to get if you have an event that you want to impress at. There’s really no downtime, aside from not working up a sweat the day of. HydraFacial really leaves your skin feeling healthy, refreshed, and improved.
