Creating a fuller appearance for the lips is a common reason that patients seek injectable treatment. In addition, lines that form around the mouth are a common sign of aging, and lost volume can cause thinner-looking lips. Restylane® Silk is an injectable treatment specifically designed with these uses in mind.
What is Restylane® Silk?
Restylane® Silk is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler. The product was designed with smaller, smoother hyaluronic acid particles to create a softer consistency and natural look. This makes it ideal for its intended use in the lips and around the mouth.
In addition, Restylane® Silk is formulated with lidocaine, so that injections are more comfortable.
What is Restylane® Silk Used For?
Restylane® Silk is designed to add volume to the lips and fill in the fine lines and wrinkles that form around the mouth. In some cases, it may also be used to add volume to the mid-face.
The Restylane® Silk Procedure
Restylane® Silk is injected into the skin using a very fine needle. Because the product contains lidocaine, these injections should not be painful and usually do not require anesthetic.
How Long Will Results Last?
Hyaluronic acid fillers, like Restylane®, are naturally broken down by the body over time, meaning results are not permanent. The exact amount of time that results last vary somewhat from person to person, but on average, Restylane® Silk lasts about six months. You may repeat treatment if you wish to maintain your results.
There are minor and temporary side effects associated with Restylane® Silk. However, there is no downtime with injectable treatments, and patients can return to normal activities immediately after their appointments if they choose. Bruising, redness, and swelling at the injection site are typical, and usually subside within a day or two.
