What Is Kybella?

Many people feel insecure about their profile due to the appearance of a “double chin.” Kybella is an injectable that improves the appearance of excess fat below the chin.

How Does Kybella Work?

Kybella is a nonsurgical injectable treatment that is FDA-approved to improve the appearance of fat beneath the chin, known as “submental fullness.” Using a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid, Kybella physically destroys fat cells and can be used as an alternative to liposuction in removing a double chin.

Injection of Kybella takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Some patients experience swelling, bruising, and redness after treatment, which should subside in one to two weeks after receiving the injection. The active ingredients in Kybella work to kill fat cells, which are then metabolized naturally by the body in the weeks following treatment.

Some patients may require multiple injections. Treatments can be performed with at least one month between each session, and some people require up to six sessions.
