Repeated movement and facial expressions, such as frowning, scowling, and smiling, create fine lines and wrinkles over time. These signs of aging are normal, but many people choose to soften their lines using neuromodulator injectables. Kovanda Plastic Surgery & Aesthetic Institute offers Dysport® as an option for our patients wishing to achieve a more youthful and refreshed appearance.
What is Dysport®?
Like BOTOX®, Dysport® is an injectable neuromodulator that blocks signals from the nerves to the muscles. This means that the muscle is temporarily paralyzed and unable to create the fine lines and wrinkles. The key difference between the two injectables is their slight variation in formulation of the same bacterium, Clostridium Botulinum. Both injectables are placed directly into the muscle underneath a furrow, weakening the muscle to the point where it cannot contract.
What Can Dysport® Treat?
Dysport® can be used for both medical and cosmetic purposes. Our aesthetic experts focus on the cosmetic uses for these neuromodulators. Dysport® can be used to lessen the appearance of the following:
- Forehead lines
- Frown lines
- Crow’s feet
- Wrinkles in the neck
How Long Does Dysport® Last?
The effects of Dysport® are not permanent, and in most cases the product dissipates within four months. However, regular maintenance treatments can allow you to keep up your results after this period if you choose.
Dysport® side effects are mild and temporary. Most patients experience some bruising, redness, or swelling after receiving injections. It’s also not uncommon to feel some minor pain or itching. These side effects usually subside within the first few days after treatment.
