What Is BBL?
BBL (BroadBand Light) is a phototherapy treatment used to treat various skin conditions, such as sun damage, visible veins, redness, or uneven texture. This non-invasive procedure has virtually no downtime, meaning you can return to normal activities immediately after receiving treatment.
How Does BBL Work?
BBL works by targeting your skin concerns with a precise laser. It gently heats the upper layers of the skin, which stimulates skin cell and collagen regeneration. This results in smoother skin with a more even tone and reduced redness. Your medical aesthetician will likely apply a topical anesthetic to ease discomfort. Patients typically experience a warm, popping sensation while receiving BBL treatment.
After treatment, most patients experience some redness, which dissipates within a few hours. For some pigmented lesions (such as freckles or age spots,) the treated area will first darken, then fade and flake off as it heals. Patients can return to work or other normal activities immediately after treatment if they choose.
What Can BBL Treat?
BBL is effective for a number of skin conditions, such as:
- Skin laxity
- Vascular lesions (visible blood vessels)
- Age spots
- Uneven skin texture
