Aging is an endless process that we may begin to address as early as our teens (if we are well-informed, or have French ancestors). From this standpoint, you could say that maintenance is a valuable task even before the idea of a facelift forms. If you are considering what this procedure can do for you, or you have already addressed aesthetic concerns with a facelift, you are once again on a journey of maintenance. The goal is to lengthen the duration of results, and there are several ways to achieve this goal. Here are some helpful tips on post-facelift maintenance.
Guard the SkinThere are two ways that we guard our skin. First, by using sunscreen daily, without fail. Secondly, we guard our skin by understanding what it needs. Everyone is different, though, so guarding the skin may seem complicated. We’ll try to simplify your path.
- To ward off UV damage, apply a pea-sized amount of broad-spectrum, SPF 30 sunscreen beneath makeup, or instead of it. Do this first thing in the morning, at least 30 before going outdoors. If you will be in the sunshine for the day, reapply sunscreen every 2 hours or so.
- Skin care is best simplified with a visit to your local esthetician. A consultation with a skin care specialist will reveal if you have sensitivities or specific concerns that need to be managed.
