I have started this letter over many times, trying to come up with the right words to express how insanely grateful I am to you. I will try to keep this brief and to the point as I see that you have very quickly risen to be one of the top plastic surgeons in the state of Minnesota (congratulations on that by the way). As you may remember I had wanted a breast reduction since I was 17 years old. I had a history of migraines, shoulder dents, back and neck pain. Over the years I have researched and interviewed several of the leading plastic surgeons (eight this year alone) in the state of Minnesota. I had heard things such as, “I am not sure that I am qualified to do such an extensive surgery, “Wow, this is going to be a lot of work” and the typical sleazy salesman lines, “together we will enhance your sexiness, all you need to do is add procedures A, B and C.” I had been lugging around DDD (almost E) breasts for eighteen years by the time I found you and I was exhausted. Tired of hearing the same old lines from surgeons, physically beat due to the weight of my breasts and emotionally spent with the lack of bedside manner and empathy shown by many surgeons and their staff. I walked into your office and told you my expectations and you told me yours (an exchange I had yet to encounter), you listened to MY story and MY concerns, answering the ungodly number of questions I had presented. You exhibited an unbelievable amount of patience and bedside manner that excels that of any surgeon I have ever encountered (please take into account my profession and understand that I mean both personally and professionally). I knew it had to be you. We met several times before my surgery so you could repeatedly go through the process of answering questions and addressing my concerns (I have no idea how you did this)! I was an anxiety ball and I know that if I were my own patient I would have only been able to cope using haldol, security and five point restraints. But, you were there for me, always displaying patience and a smile. After surgery I saw you weekly for the first six weeks, you made sure my pain was under control, dealt with the paperwork my place of employment required and continued as a saint would, accommodating my constant need for reassurance. I will also say that my incisions are amazing; they are so clean, precise and healing rather quickly. I only had the need to take pain medication for the first 48 hours following the procedure, and for the first time in 18 years I feel damn good about my body! I am currently eleven weeks post op, sitting at the beach staring at my own smoking hot body and thinking about how things have changed for me. My self esteem has gone up considerably, I can fit into the “cute” bras and swimsuits (no need to special order, what a money saver), my back and neck pain have decreased and I have not suffered from a single migraine. I no longer have to “tuck” my boobs into my bra, I have gone down a shirt size, I am proportioned and for Pete sake, I can run without fear of giving myself black eyes! This has been such a positive life changing experience for me, I fear that there is no way possible I will ever be able to express my gratitude. I have and will continue to recommend you to everyone I encounter (personally and professionally). I thank God for you every day. Happy, Hot and Perky, Connie Starcher P.S. I also want to thank your nurse Laura for her exceptional care. I found her be compassionate, comforting, patient, down to earth, professional and extremely knowledgeable. The two of you make an extraordinary team!
